A teacher is one individual who has the lives of hundreds of students in her/his hands, mind, and heart. A teacher is a leader of a classroom. They must shine with respect and honesty and fuel their classroom with sound morals and good character. A teacher is a leader, a listener, a disciplinary, a helpful hand, a support system, and a friend. A teacher must portray constant enthusiasm and encouragement to each of her/his students. A teacher is one individual who devotes their time to molding children into the best beings they could possibly be. A teacher is a person who forgets about their needs and wants and instead focuses on the students who need their attention and affection.
A teacher is not a person who gets weekends, holidays, and summers off. A teacher is not someone who spends their day dealing with kids! A teacher is not an individual who goes into school at 8:00am and leaves for home at 3:30pm. A teacher is not a presenter.
Being a teacher means that you are willing to give of yourself to better others all of the time and that, to me, is what life is all about.
Here is a poem by Gerald Grow that I absolutley love:
What is a teacher?
